The Program Officially Launched

Simulation For Everything

On July 13, 2026, the 2nd International Summer School of the Asian Simulation Federation (ASIASIM) officially launched in Hangzhou. Compared with the first edition, this year’s program has doubled in overall participation and achieved a significant increase in international representation. More than 70 students and young researchers from over 10 countries, including Spain, Russia, Vietnam, Singapore, Brazil, South Korea, Thailand, Bangladesh, Peru, Pakistan, Nicaragua, Kenya, and Jordan, gathered in Hangzhou for a two-week immersive program combining academic training, cultural exchange, and artistic activities.

Professor Lin Zhang, President of the Asian Simulation Federation; Professor Jingnong Weng, Secretary-General of ASIASIM; and Dr. Weixi Gong, Chief Strategist of ASIASIM, attended the opening activities and participated throughout the first day’s academic sessions.


The summer school gathered scholars from various countries, including China, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Spain, and Germany, fostering international academic exchange and collaboration.

At 8:50 a.m., the summer school officially began with an engaging academic atmosphere. Professor Lin Zhang delivered a welcome speech on behalf of ASIASIM. Professor Jingnong Weng introduced ASIASIM’s vision of “Simulation for Everything” and the theme of this year’s summer school, officially announcing the opening of the program. Following the opening remarks, Dr. Weixi Gong delivered a keynote speech, highlighting that simulation is becoming a fundamental infrastructure in the era of artificial intelligence. He emphasized that ASIASIM is committed to advancing global simulation technology standards and fostering the development of simulation talents worldwide.


During the preparation stage, the event faced disruptions caused by typhoon conditions. The organizing team and volunteers worked closely together to strengthen emergency arrangements, adjust venue procedures, and address multiple challenges, including transportation and venue preparation issues caused by the extreme weather. Through effective coordination and contingency planning, all opening activities were successfully carried out in an orderly manner.


All team members collaborated to provide comprehensive support and ensure the successful execution of the event.


The event venue was carefully designed and arranged, featuring clearly organized professional simulation training classrooms equipped with comprehensive hardware and software facilities. Daily refreshments were provided, supported by dedicated volunteer teams, ensuring thoughtful and comprehensive support for participants from different countries throughout the program.

The 1st ASIASIM Simulation Art Design Competition was held concurrently at the Secretariat’s 5th-floor central hall. Jointly organized by ASIASIM and Nanjing University of the Arts, the exhibition featured three categories: Static Visual Design, Dynamic Interactive Design, and Mixed Reality Design. By integrating simulation technology with creative design, the exhibition became one of the distinctive highlights of the event.

The summer school adopted a dual-class advisor system, with dedicated academic and residential advisors providing continuous support throughout the program. Academic advisor Han Lu and residential advisor Mengyuan Ding introduced students to the course schedule, daily arrangements, safety guidelines, and important considerations for their stay.

Following the opening ceremony, the academic sessions of the day commenced in an orderly manner.

At 10:30 a.m., Professor Zaharuddin Mohamed from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) delivered a keynote lecture focusing on digital twins and simulation technologies.

At 2:30 p.m., Professor Haiwen Ge from Beihang University gave a lecture on modeling, simulation, and optimization of complex thermofluid systems.

At 4:10 p.m., Associate Professor Luiz Pereira from the Hangzhou International Innovation Institute of Beihang University presented a report on multifunctional glass materials and their applications.

The three lectures covered cutting-edge applications of simulation technology across multiple fields. Participants listened attentively and engaged in active discussions with the speakers after the sessions.

Icebreaker Night: Friendship Begins

On the evening of the opening day, the summer school organized a lively icebreaker activity. Participants from different countries gathered together and introduced themselves, joined interactive games, and quickly overcame the barriers of first acquaintance in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Chinese students actively helped international participants learn Chinese, bringing the atmosphere to its peak.

Filled with laughter and interaction, the event allowed friendships to take root and grow, creating a warm and welcoming foundation for the upcoming academic sessions and campus life.

The summer school is not only a platform for knowledge exchange but also an opportunity for cultural connection and meaningful encounters among participants. Over the following two weeks, students will continue to explore the frontiers of simulation technology while gaining knowledge, personal growth, and lasting friendships through cross-cultural communication.
