On December 16, 2025,Professor Lin Zhang and Dr. Kunyu Xie from the Asia Simulation Federation and the International Innovation Center for Simulation Technology, held in-depth discussions with Dr. Antoine Dominici of the University of Corsica (France) on the ISO 21175 series of standards at the Hangzhou International Innovation Institute of Beihang University.
The ISO 21175 series of standards, currently being developed under the ISO/TC184/SC5 WG17 working group led by China, represents the first batch of ISO standards for manufacturing simulation spearheaded by the country. The standards focus on the interoperability of distributed simulation models in the manufacturing sector, providing a standardized foundation for cross-platform information exchange, time synchronization, and result sharing. This seminar, based on the technical framework of ISO 21175-1, concentrated on the core specifications of ISO 21175-2 and ISO 21175-3, including standardized model representation, naming conventions, interface descriptions, metadata requirements, and integration with the X language developed by the Beihang team. These efforts aim to achieve unified model identification, lossless data exchange, and efficient reuse.
Grounded in nearly two years of collaborative research by the multinational team, this workshop has brought substantial progress to the development of the ISO 21175 series.
