News | A Delegation from Harbin Institute of Technology and Tianjin University Visits ASIASIM

On the afternoon of March 12, Gu Jianzheng, former Dean of the College of International Education, Harbin Institute of Technology and Secretary-General of the BRICS Federation of Engineering Organizations (in preparation), along with Zhang Zhen, Dean of the School of Education at Tianjin University, led a joint delegation to visit ASIASIM. Weng Jingnong, Secretary-General of ASIASIM; Gong Weixi, Standing Member of the Advisory Committee and former Director of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO); and members of the Secretariat engaged in in-depth discussions with the visiting guests on topics such as the establishment and operation of international organizations, strategic positioning, and the development of international organizations.

During the discussion, ASIASIM shared its establishment process and practical experience: starting from the initial academic seminars among China, Japan, and South Korea, after years of consensus building, charter formulation, and resource integration, the organization was ultimately accelerated into reality by leveraging the strategic value of simulation technology and institutional support. ASIASIM highlighted three core elements: multinational consensus, substantive support, and precise positioning. The three parties engaged in in-depth exchanges on topics such as organizational positioning, building consensus among Chinese and international members, clarifying common goals and missions, accelerating the registration and establishment process, securing broader stakeholder support, and promoting the orderly operation of the organization. They also discussed the challenges faced during the initial phase of the organization, including issues related to personnel, finances, material resources, international affairs management, logistical support, and policy backing.

This exchange offers valuable insights for the establishment and development of international organizations led by universities. All parties expressed that, in the future, they will further strengthen communication and experience sharing, deepen discussions on key issues in development, continuously accumulate experience, build confidence, and foster consensus through practice, jointly exploring a path toward the high-quality development of international science and technology organizations based in China.
