From the rapid advancement of fundamental computing power to the development of smart campuses, from microscopic structures such as a single tooth to large-scale global science and technology governance, simulation technology is emerging as an “unsung hero” that is reshaping both our physical and digital worlds.
The Asian Simulation Federation (ASIASIM)’s original publication, Simulation for Everything, Issue 2, is now officially available! This issue covers eight core sections (SECTION 1–SECTION 8), providing a comprehensive and multidimensional overview of cutting-edge theories, advanced technologies, practical applications, and the global ecosystem of simulation science.

Section 1
The Future
As AI continues to advance at an unprecedented pace, people are often amazed by the breakthroughs of algorithms while overlooking the fundamental foundation behind them—simulation technology. In this opening article, Professor Lin Zhang provides an in-depth analysis of how simulation technology serves as a “behind-the-scenes enabler,” delivering essential computational support for chip development, process optimization, and algorithm refinement.

Simulation is not only a technology—it is also an ecosystem. This section focuses on ASIASIM’s industry conferences, standards development, report publications, and competition awards, providing a comprehensive overview of the organizational models and operational frameworks that shape the simulation ecosystem.

The International Journal of Modeling, Simulation, and Scientific Computing (IJMSSC) is a flagship publication platform under the Asian Simulation Federation (ASIASIM) and is published by World Scientific. The journal focuses on interdisciplinary areas including modeling and simulation, high-performance computing, and AI-driven simulation, covering fields such as computer science, mathematics, engineering, physics, and social sciences. It is indexed in ESCI and listed in the JCR “Computer Science, Theory & Methods” category, with an editorial board comprising experts from 17 countries worldwide.

3. Standards and Accreditation
ASIASIM, together with Professor Lin Zhang and Dr. Kunyue Xie from the International Simulation Technology Innovation Center, held an in-depth discussion with Dr. Antoine Dominici from the University of Corsica, France, on the development of the ISO 21175 series of standards at the Beihang University Hangzhou International Innovation Research Institute.

4. Competitions and Awards
The “First Asian Simulation Federation Simulation Art Design Competition” was themed “Everything Can Be Simulated · Simulation Illuminates the Future”. The competition invited submissions from university faculty and students worldwide, simulation technology professionals, designers, and art enthusiasts. It encouraged participants to explore innovative expressions that integrate simulation technology with digital creativity from an artistic perspective.

The Science
Delving into the core of models and understanding the foundations of methodology. Focusing on the innovative design of complex products, the team from Beihang University provides a detailed introduction to X Language, methodologies, and tools, revealing a new-generation integrated modeling and simulation technology framework that supports Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).

Section 4
In Practice
From models to reality, from computation to decision-making. This issue presents an in-depth analysis of a real-world simulation case from Beihang University Hangzhou International Campus, showcasing how digital simulation technology acts as a “pioneer” in precisely safeguarding the structural foundation and supporting the full construction lifecycle of the 395-meter-long, large-scale architectural structure known as the “Flying Roof”.

The Story
Behind every technology, there are always human stories. This section explores real stories from the field of simulation. Take orthodontic treatment as an example: from the uncertainty of relying solely on doctors’ experience to a fully visualized and precisely controllable process enabled by simulation-driven analysis, every technological innovation is making a meaningful impact on everyday life.

Opportunity
Connecting people, technology, and industry through key pathways. This section brings together talent development, collaboration opportunities, and pathways for achievement transformation, enabling every reader to discover their entry point into the simulation ecosystem.

The International Summer School serves as a fundamental component of the Asian Simulation Federation’s (ASIASIM) young talent development system. With the core mission of “Connecting cultures through simulation,” it aims to create a high-level, immersive platform for academic exploration and cross-cultural exchange for young simulation researchers worldwide.

Talent Development
ASIASIM is committed to the principle of “cultivating, identifying, and empowering talent”. Through initiatives such as recommendations for national-level young talent programs, youth forums at international academic conferences, and the dissemination of high-quality research achievements, ASIASIM is gradually building a comprehensive young talent development system that supports the entire growth journey of emerging simulation science and technology professionals, providing them with broader opportunities for advancement.


Outreach
ASIASIM welcomed more than 30 international students from Fudan University, representing nearly 20 countries, including Germany, Italy, Russia, the United States, Brazil, and Mexico, for an exchange and learning visit. This exchange transcended disciplinary and national boundaries, allowing young people from around the world to experience the unique appeal of cutting-edge technologies firsthand and witness real-world examples of how technology empowers urban development.

The value of international science and technology organizations lies not only in academic exchange, but also in resource connectivity, ecosystem development, and collaborative innovation.
