In 2026, ASIASIM explored this question through a Simulation Art and Design Competition. By integrating simulation technology with artistic creation, scientific models, algorithmic principles, and complex data have became new creative mediums.

PART 01

Event Overview

The outstanding works from the competition are now on display at the fifth-floor central hall of the ASIASIM Secretariat. This is the first exhibition organized by the Secretariat to showcase creative works that explore the integration of simulation technology and artistic expression.

ASIASIM is located on the fifth floor of Research Building No. 1 at Beihang University Hangzhou International Campus in Yuhang District, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. Situated near the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the venue combines a beautiful natural environment with a rich atmosphere of culture and technological innovation.The exhibition is jointly organized by ASIASIM and Nanjing University of the Arts. Leveraging their respective expertise and achievements in simulation technology and art design, the two organizations have collaborated to create a visual experience that blends scientific innovation with aesthetic expression.

Since the launch of the competition, creators from around the world have shared their enthusiasm and expectations. To provide more participants with the opportunity to complete and submit their works, the organizing committee has extended the submission deadline to August 30, 2026. We look forward to seeing your vision brought to life through simulation — creating a world that can be seen, felt, and explored.

Furthermore, selected outstanding works will be exhibited at the 2026 Global Simulation Conference in Hangzhou from November 13 to 15. Prior to the conference, we invite you to visit the ASIASIM Secretariat exhibition hall and immerse yourself in a visual journey where creativity, imagination, and computational technology come together.

PART 02

Three Directions, Infinite Possibilities

The competition features three major creative categories, with each work presenting its own interpretation of “how simulation can become a way to understand the world”.

Static Visuals

Static visual works break the boundaries between traditional painting and design, transforming scientific models and algorithmic principles into new creative mediums. AIGC technology reimagines cinematic aesthetics in digital spaces; physical simulation brings biological realism and visual poetry to cell division; and simulation data from fields such as aerospace, intelligent manufacturing, and healthcare is transformed into impactful technological visualizations. The logic of multimodal AI-driven health management is presented through clear system frameworks, while industrial grids and biological imagery interact through data to create a sense of coexistence and harmony. Through artistic expression, VR technology brings historical culture closer to audiences, making the past more accessible and immersive. Data becomes the brush, algorithms become the palette — simulation is redefining the boundaries of creation.

 



Dynamic Interactivity

Interactive dynamic works break the boundaries of static viewing, allowing audiences to truly “enter” the world of simulation. Digital twin factories that can be freely explored, paper tickets and Dunhuang relic images brought to life through AR technology, real-time visual feedback generated through pressure sensors and gesture recognition, and data-driven transformations of poetic mythological symbols all invite viewers to move from observers to participants.


Mixed Reality

Mixed reality works enable the virtual world and physical space to truly merge together. By simply scanning a poster with a smartphone, viewers can bring a static image to life as an interactive 3D solar system model within the real environment. They can freely move around the model, click on planets, and observe orbital paths, transforming abstract aerospace knowledge into an immersive experience where the virtual and real worlds seamlessly connect. The boundary between reality and virtuality disappears — the universe becomes within reach.

PART 03 

Technology, Engineering, & Art:

A Deep Integration


The significance of this competition goes far beyond a simple call for submissions.

Simulation technology has been described as “the third approach for humans to understand and transform the world”. It serves as a bridge between the digital and physical worlds and is widely applied in cutting-edge fields such as aerospace, intelligent manufacturing, and healthcare. With the deep integration of simulation, artificial intelligence, and big data, simulation technology is accelerating technological innovation and social transformation at an unprecedented pace.

However, simulation has never been limited to engineers alone. In this competition, creators from diverse backgrounds — including university faculty and students, independent creators, and secondary school students — use the language of simulation to express their unique understanding of the world. Data is continuously evolving, algorithms are constantly advancing, and the once-clear boundary between virtuality and reality is becoming increasingly blurred. Scientific models, algorithmic rules, and complex data are becoming new creative mediums.


 

This is exactly the original intention behind the collaboration between ASIASIM and Nanjing University of the Arts. In March 2026, the two sides reached a deep consensus on promoting the integration of art and science. In May 2026, university leaders from Nanjing University of the Arts visited ASIASIM for discussions and exchanges, focusing on the interdisciplinary integration of “Art + Simulation Technology”. They reached several practical cooperation initiatives and jointly unveiled the “International Organization Internship Talent Base of ASIASIM (Nanjing University of the Arts)”From jointly organizing this exhibition to establishing a talent development base, engineers see data and algorithms, while artists see structures and emotions. Yet when they stand before the same artwork, they are ultimately seeing the same thing: the world can be simulated, and it can also be reimagined.

PART 04

Submission Requirements

1. Categories of Works

(1) Static Visuals

• Digital Painting: Creations using data images generated by simulation software (e.g., CFD, FEA).

• Data Visualization Art: Creations that transform simulation data streams, mesh generation, and convergence curves into aesthetic elements.

• Algorithm-Generated Art: Generative artworks based on physical engines (e.g., rigid body dynamics, fluid simulation).

(2) Dynamic Interactivity

• Micro-Interactive Posters: Immersive simulation animations triggered by scanning static posters (e.g., fluid motion, structural deformation).

• Parametric Responsive Posters: Works where visual elements automatically adjust based on environmental data (e.g., time, weather, geographic location).

• Game Engine Art: Interactive simulation scenes rendered in real time via Unreal Engine, Unity, or other game engines.

(3) Mixed Reality

• Augmented Reality (AR) Posters: Combining AR technology to present 3D interactive simulation models on flat posters.

• Voxel Art: Simulated objects constructed from 3D pixel units, embodying the materiality of the digital world.

2. Work Specifications

(1) Static Visuals

• Basic Specifications: A3 size (297×420mm) or equivalent aspect ratio, 300 dpi resolution, and file size not exceeding 8MB.

• File Formats: PDF/JPEG/PNG/TIFF (RGB/CMYK color mode).

• Submission Requirements: A design description must be submitted along with the entry form, explaining how simulation technology is integrated with artistic expression.

(2) Dynamic Interactivity

• Duration Limit: Main loop duration not exceeding 60 seconds, and file size not exceeding 300MB.

• Format Requirements: MP4 with H.264 encoding (for dynamic works); GIF/WebM (for web display versions), etc.

• Interactive Requirements:

An executable file must be provided, packaged in ZIP format;

A QR code or web link ensuring compatibility with mainstream devices;

For interactive works, screenshots of core interfaces, functional processes, or interactive states may be presented. Combined with device mockups to showcase usage scenarios, the works should clearly convey the product’s functions and user experience. A demonstration video (optional) is also acceptable—limited to 3 minutes in length, MP4 format, high definition, and within 300MB.

(3) Mixed Reality

• AR Marker Requirements: A printable tracking marker image (300 dpi) must be provided.

• Platform: Support for mainstream iOS/Android AR libraries (ARKit/ARCore).

• Submission Requirements: The core interactive experience shall not exceed 3 minutes. ( If an executable package is available: Package it in ZIP format; All submissions must include a mandatory video demonstration: the application experience process shall be produced as a preview video, which shall contain recorded footage of the program in actual operation, clearly and explicitly showcase the core functional design and artistic design, with clear images, a duration of no more than 3 minutes, in MP4 format, with high definition and a file size within 300 MB.)

3. Content Requirements

Works must be created around the contest theme, with positive content that aligns with the concept of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind.

Works must be original designs and shall not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any third party.

Works may include thematic textual elements such as “Asia Simulation Federation (ASIASIM)”, “Simulation for Everything” and “Simulation Lights the Future”, provided that they are harmoniously integrated with the overall design.

A completed registration form must be submitted along with each work. The form shall include a design description (200-500 words) explaining the creative concept, source of inspiration, and the simulation technology adopted.

4. Submission

Works shall be submitted via the contest’s official email address.

Submission materials must include: artwork files and the registration form (including the designer's or team’s information and design description).

File Naming: “Title of Submission + Designer’s Name/Team Name + Telephone Number”.

5. Copyright Statement

All entries must be original works that have not been publicly published or submitted to any other contests.

The organizing committee reserves the right to use the entries for non-commercial purposes such as promotion, exhibition, and publication without additional compensation.

The intellectual property rights of the winning entries shall belong to the designers, while the organizing committee shall have the right of first use.
