As part of the 2026 ASIASIM International Summer School, ASIASIM continues to bring together leading experts in simulation technology and industrial innovation, creating an international exchange platform that connects young researchers with cutting-edge technologies and real-world industrial practices. On July 17, 2026, Guohua Yu, Vice President of Aerospace, Marine, and Defense Industries at Siemens Digital Industries Software, was invited to deliver a lecture. Focusing on digital twin technology innovation and industrial applications, he shared insights into the latest global trends in industrial digitalization and guided participants in exploring the future development of simulation technologies.

During the course, Vice President Guohua Yu introduced Siemens’ concept of “Comprehensive Digital Twin” and presented the innovative perspective of “Travelling through Time with the Digital Twin”. He shared Siemens’ comprehensive, intelligent, and adaptive simulation solutions, systematically explaining how digital twins can span the entire lifecycle of products — from design and manufacturing to operational optimization. Through the concept of a digital thread, digital twins connect the physical and digital worlds, enabling continuous optimization throughout the product lifecycle. In his presentation, Vice President Yu highlighted Siemens’ three core digital twin directions: Digital Twin of Product, Digital Twin of Production, and Digital Twin of Performance. He further introduced how physics-based digital twin technologies integrate high-fidelity simulation, real-time industrial data, and artificial intelligence algorithms. Through continuous model calibration and refinement, these technologies enhance predictive capabilities and drive the evolution of simulation from traditional analysis and verification toward intelligent prediction and decision support. In industries such as aerospace, automotive, advanced manufacturing, energy, and shipbuilding, Siemens’ digital twin technology has become an important approach for integrating engineering design, simulation analysis, and intelligent manufacturing, supporting the transition toward more efficient and sustainable industrial development.

The session not only enabled young scholars to gain first-hand insights into leading global enterprises’ innovations in digital twin technologies but also helped them further understand the transition of simulation technologies from model development to real-world industrial applications, providing new perspectives for future research and technological innovation.
