Call for Submissions: 2026 Important Advances in the Top Ten Frontier Issues in Simulation Science and Technology

To all relevant universities, research institutes, enterprises, and other organizations:

In order to continuously track frontier developments in simulation science and technology, showcase the innovative breakthroughs achieved by research and engineering teams worldwide around major frontier issues, and promote the deep integration of basic research, technological innovation, and engineering application in the field of simulation, we hereby issue an open call — to universities, research institutes, enterprises, and other innovation teams — for submissions to “2026 Important Advances in the Top Ten Frontier Issues of Simulation Science and Technology.”

We sincerely invite relevant organizations, research teams, and experts to actively nominate and recommend original, breakthrough achievements of significant impact. Relevant matters are announced as follows.


I. Scope of Submissions

This call focuses on important scientific and technological advances related to the “Top Ten Frontier Issues of Simulation Science and Technology,” including primarily:

Credible Simulation Models and Truthfulness Assessment

Important advances in building decision-gradecredible models, and in establishing traceable, quantitative frameworks forassessing model truthfulness.

Uncertainty Quantification and Model Calibration

Important advances in uncertainty quantification(UQ), model calibration, and their deep integration with end-to-end simulationworkflows.

Multiphysics, Multiscale Coupled Simulation

Important advances in the unified modelling,coupling, computation, and validation of multiphysics, multiscale complexsystems.

Biomedical Simulation

Important advances in individualized, verifiablemultiscale physiological models of human organs, and in high-fidelity,near-real-time clinical simulation.

Credible Fatigue Life Prediction for ComplexEquipment

Important advances in predicting the structuralfatigue life of large, complex equipment under complex operating conditions andrandom loads, without physical prototypes.

Real-Time/Quasi-Real-Time Full-Machine Simulationof Large Complex Equipment

Important advances in high-fidelity real-time or quasi-real-time full-machine simulation of large, complex equipment in heterogeneous hardware environments.

AI + Simulation and World Models

Important advances in foundation models, physics-informed learning, neural operators, world models, and interpretable, out-of-distribution intelligent simulation.

Materials Simulation

Important advances in uncertainty quantification for first-principles calculations, multiscale error propagation, and materials design.

Electronic Design Simulation

Important advances in timing analysis for ultra-large-scale chips, physics-constrained surrogate models, uncertainty estimation, and intelligent electronic design simulation.

Social Simulation

Important advances in high-fidelity, LLM-driven social simulation, and in model verifiability, interpretability, and ethical robustness.

Submitted achievements should, in principle, correspond clearly to one of the ten frontier issues above. For cross-disciplinary or interdisciplinary achievements, applicants may select the most relevant frontier issue for their submission and explain its connection to the other related issues.


II. Eligible Applicants

This call is open to the following organizations and teams, both domestic and international:

Universities, research institutes, key laboratories and research platforms, technology enterprises and R&D institutions, as well as research teams and engineering teams engaged in the research and application of simulation science and technology.

Basic research teams, major engineering teams, industry-university-research joint teams, and young researcher teams are all encouraged to apply.

Submissions may take the form of institutional nomination, team application, or expert recommendation. For achievements jointly completed by multiple organizations, it is encouraged that the lead organization take charge of the submission, clearly specifying the actual contributions of each participating organization and its main contributors.


III. Achievements of Particular Interest

Submitted achievements should demonstrate substantive progress on the relevant frontier issue, with particular attention to the following types of advances:

(1) Original breakthroughs in fundamental theory, scientific methods, mathematical models, or simulation paradigms;

(2) Breakthroughs in key technologies, core algorithms, software, or engineering methods that have long constrained development in the relevant field;

(3) Simulation application achievements of significant value in major equipment, major engineering projects, life and health, integrated circuits, new materials, artificial intelligence, and other fields;

(4) Achievements that represent clear progress over existing research and technology, domestically and internationally, supported by sufficient scientific or engineering evidence;

(5) Achievements with good verifiability and reproducibility, or that have already been validated through third-party application and real-world scenarios;

(6) Achievements with a significant impact on the development of the relevant discipline, engineering and technological progress, industrial upgrading, or social development, and with strong demonstrative and leading value.

This call does not use the number of publications, project level, or award tier as its primary evaluation criteria. Rather, it focuses on whether the achievement genuinely advances the resolution of the relevant frontier issue, along with its originality, breakthrough nature, credibility, and real-world impact.


IV. Application Materials

Each submission is recommended to include the following materials:

  • Name of the achievement;

  • A Chinese and English abstract of approximately 300 words;

  • The corresponding “Top Ten Frontier Issues of Simulation Science and Technology” that the achievement primarily addresses;

  • The substantive breakthrough achieved relative to existing domestic and international levels;

  • The core scientific principles, key technologies, and main scientific and engineering evidence;

  • The reproducibility, validation status, or third-party application materials of the achievement;

  • The academic, engineering, industrial, or societal impact of the achievement;

  • The main completing organization(s), main contributors, and a description of their contributions;

  • A statement of conflicts of interest, funding sources, and any relevant ethical considerations;

  • 3–5 of the most representative supporting materials, which may include representative papers, patents, software systems, technical reports, testing or validation reports, third-party application evidence, engineering application materials, and the like;

  • One publicly releasable “reason for selection,” briefly explaining why the achievement represents an important advance on the relevant frontier issue.

Application materials should be focused, objective, and accurate, and all data, conclusions, and attributions of contribution should be true and reliable. For achievements already made public, please indicate the details of their publication, release, or application; for information that is not public or should not be public, please note this in the application materials.


V. Application and Recommendation Procedure

Applicant organizations or teams are requested to complete the “Application Form for ‘2026 Important Advances in the Top Ten Frontier Issues of Simulation Science and Technology’” and send it, along with the application materials and any supporting materials, to:

The email subject line should be formatted as:

“2026 Important Advances in the Top Ten Frontier Issues – Application + Name of Achievement + Applicant Organization”

Submission deadline:

October 31, 2026.

The same organization may recommend multiple achievements; in principle, the same achievement should not be submitted more than once.


VI. Review and Publication

After the call for submissions closes, experts in the relevant fields will be organized to conduct a professional review of the submitted achievements. The review will focus on the originality and breakthrough nature of each achievement, the scientific and technical evidence supporting it, its credibility and verifiability, its contribution to advancing the relevant frontier issue, and its academic, engineering, industrial, and societal impact.

The review process will strictly follow requirements for avoiding conflicts of interest, maintaining research integrity, and relevant oversight.

The representative and important advances identified through the review will be published and promoted under the name “2026 Important Advances in the Top Ten Frontier Issues of Simulation Science and Technology” (or similar), with the achievements and their main contributing teams showcased through relevant academic exchanges, media coverage, and other channels.


VII. Additional Notes

  • Applicant organizations and individuals are responsible for the authenticity, accuracy, and completeness of the materials submitted;

  • Matters involving intellectual property, confidentiality, ethics, or similar issues shall be reviewed by the applicant organization in accordance with relevant regulations;

  • Submissions involving disputes over attribution of achievement, issues of research integrity, or misrepresented materials will not be included in the review, or will have their eligibility revoked;

  • This call is intended to identify and showcase representative achievements that genuinely advance major frontier issues, and we sincerely welcome universities, research institutes, enterprises, and research and engineering teams to actively participate and apply.

We hope that all relevant organizations will attach great importance to this call and actively organize recommendations, so that together we may identify and showcase original, breakthrough, and leading advances in the field of simulation science and technology, and contribute to its innovative development.
