On August 21, 2026, the Beihang-NESCOM Advanced Training Program on Reliability Engineering successfully concluded at the Hangzhou International Innovation Institute of Beihang University. The program was jointly organized and implemented by the International Simulation Technology Innovation Center and the International Education Center of the Hangzhou Beihang International Innovation Institute, with the participation of the School of Reliability and Systems Engineering of Beihang University, the Key Laboratory of Reliability and Environmental Engineering Technology, and the Asian Simulation Federation (ASIASIM).
The closing ceremony was attended by Professor Weng Jingnong, Secretary-General of the Asian Simulation Federation (ASIASIM); Professor Quan Quan of the School of Automation Science and Electrical Engineering, Beihang University; Associate Professor Zu Tianpei of the Hangzhou International Innovation Institute of Beihang University; Associate Professor Li Yingyi of the Hangzhou International Innovation Institute of Beihang University; and postdoctoral researchers Li Zeyu and Gao Hong from the Hangzhou International Innovation Institute of Beihang University, among others.

At the closing ceremony, Secretary-General Weng Jingnong noted that Beihang University and NESCOM have maintained a long-standing partnership, expressing hope that the trainees would apply what they learned to their future work and achieve greater results. He also welcomed them to continue visiting Beihang University and ASIASIM for further learning and to explore new opportunities for cooperation. Representing the NESCOM trainees, Mr. Umer Farooq thanked Beihang University for its well-organized courses and hospitality. The trainees highly praised the teaching and instructors, and valued the nearly three weeks of training and on-site exchanges. The ceremony was hosted by Li Qingyi, an Indonesian graduate student at Northwestern Polytechnical University and an ASIASIM intern.

Professor Weng Jingnong, Secretary-General of the Asian Simulation Federation (ASIASIM) and Professor at Beihang University, delivered a speech.

Mr. Umer Farooq, representing NESCOM, delivered a speech.
From Beijing to Hangzhou: A Three-Week Training Program
The training program was divided into two stages. From August 3 to 7, the first stage was held at Beihang University’s Beijing campus, focusing on structural reliability assessment, non-destructive testing, reliability systems engineering, advanced control, and software and intelligent system reliability. From August 10 to 21, the second stage took place at the Hangzhou International Innovation Institute of Beihang University, covering maintainability and maintenance support, reliable operation of autonomous systems, life and reliability assessment, reliability theory, and health management of aviation equipment. The program also introduced practical applications of reliability engineering through digital twins, large language models, and relevant national standards.

During the training, NESCOM members visited Hikvision’s Hangzhou headquarters, Unitree Robotics, and the Tianmu Mountain Laboratory. These visits provided insights into reliability design, testing and validation, and quality management practices in fields such as intelligent IoT, embodied intelligence, robotics, and drones, further demonstrating how the methods learned in class can be applied to real-world engineering scenarios.

The NESCOM delegation also visited the Secretariat Office of the Asian Simulation Federation (ASIASIM), where ASIASIM Chairman Zhang Lin and Chief Strategist Gong Weixi welcomed the delegation. The two sides exchanged views on the Federation’s development history and flagship activities.

The training program combined classroom instruction, case studies, and site visits, providing a platform for professional exchange between Beihang University and NESCOM. Following the completion of the program, both sides will maintain communication and further cooperation in reliability engineering talent development, academic research, and engineering applications.
