As the 2026 Global Simulation Conference (GloSim 2026) approaches, more speakers for its various forums are being announced. Today, we are pleased to introduce Bhakti Satyabudhi Stephan Onggo, Professor and Associate Dean for International Affairs at the University of Southampton, UK, who will speak at the Social Governance, Digital Economy and Virtual Experimentation and Simulation Forum.

Bhakti Satyabudhi Stephan Onggo
Bhakti Stephan Onggo is a Professor of Business Analytics in the Department of Decision Analytics and Risk at the University of Southampton Business School. He is also a member of the Centre for Operational Research, Management Sciences and Information Systems (CORMSIS). His research focuses on simulation modeling methods and their applications in digital twins, disaster management, and supply chains. He serves as Area Editor of the Flexible Services and Manufacturing Journal and Associate Editor of the Journal of Simulation.
He is the principal investigator of DIGI-FLOOD, a project developing an inclusive, digital-twin-based flood relief system in Indonesia. The project is jointly funded by the British Council’s Research Collaboration Programme (Project No. 3827) and Indonesia’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology through the International Science Partnerships Fund (ISPF).

Topic: DIGI-FLOOD: Integrating Social Simulation and Digital Twins for Equitable Disaster Response
Session: Forum on Social Management, Digital Economy, and Virtual Experiment Simulation
【Session Preview】:
Disaster risk management presents a complex system-of-systems challenge in which disruptions propagate across natural, physical, and human domains. Social management simulation plays a pivotal role in bridging decision-support technologies with human behaviour and societal equity. The DIGI-FLOOD project integrates agent-based modelling within a Digital Twin, supported by geographic information systems, satellite positioning, and real-time drone surveillance. This framework enables a shift in disaster management from static, offline planning to adaptive, real-time decision support. Applied to flood emergency response in vulnerable regions such as Indonesia, the framework dynamically calculates safe evacuation routes while explicitly prioritising vulnerable populations, including children and individuals with disabilities. By synthesising social simulation with real-time digital twin technology, the approach aims to deliver a fairer, more resilient, and operationally effective disaster response.
The 2026 Global Simulation Conference (GloSim 2026) will bring together leading experts from around the world to explore the latest developments in physical AI, intelligent simulation and data governance, embodied intelligence, and large AI models for industry. The conference will feature a main forum and 11 themed forums covering key areas such as aerospace, smart healthcare, low-altitude transportation, green and intelligent marine equipment, and youth innovation and development.
We look forward to exploring the latest applications and future possibilities of simulation technology with you!
